Virtual Road Trip: Monterey Bay Area and Big Sur

My free-range painting tour of California's Central Coast begins north of Santa Cruz and heads south, with stops at some of the most inspiring painting locations in Capitola, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, and Big Sur. Some of these spots are best-kept secrets, others, iconic views. This Highway One road trip would take about three hours if you made all these stops back-to-back.

Plein air oil on archival panel, 11 x 14" Winner of the Times Publishing Award, 2016 Capitola Plein Air Festival This was painted on a hidden path called the Riverfront Terrace. This lovely garden path gives you a glimpse into Capitola's "riverside" cottages. To find it, look for the trail just south of this famous bridge.
